About our organization

The International Centre for Research in Agroforestry (ICRAF) is an international research institution which generates science-based knowledge about the complex role that trees play in agricultural landscapes and rural livelihoods. As part of the Centre’s work to bring tree-based solutions to bear on poverty and environmental problems, researchers – working in close collaboration with partners – are developing new technologies, tools and policy recommendations for increased food security and ecosystem health.

The Centre’s headquarters is in Nairobi, Kenya, and research is conducted in 34 countries in Africa, Asia and Latin America. ICRAF is a member of the Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research (CGIAR) and receives funding from over 50 different donors.

Project

The Project “Developing Local Capacities for the Biodiversity–Livelihood–Climate Nexus in Thai Nguyen Province,” is funded by the UK Government through the Darwin Initiative and implemented by a consortium consisting of the International Centre for Research in Agroforestry (ICRAF), the Institute of Forestry Research and Sustainable Development (IFS), and the Thai Nguyen Women’s Union (TNWU). The project aims to strengthen the capacities of staff from IFS and TNWU for biodiversity conservation, livelihood improvement, and climate resilience. It also contributes to and benefits from the Thai Nguyen Climate Learning Centre (CLC), which serves as a platform for learning, knowledge exchange, and capacity development. The capacities developed through the project will support the CLC’s long-term development, while the CLC will provide an ongoing platform for partners and stakeholders to apply and share knowledge and practices related to biodiversity, livelihoods, and climate resilience.

Effective project management is essential to ensure that project activities are well planned, coordinated, implemented, monitored, and reported, and that intended results are achieved. The project therefore seeks a consultant or a team of consultants to deliver a training course on Project Management in Thai Nguyen for staff from the consortium members.
